Cookie Notice
EFFECTIVE: JUL 11, 2026
VERSION: 2026-07-11
First published Cookie Notice, replacing the brief cookie description inside the Privacy Policy with a technology-by-technology inventory. Prior versions: 2026-08-22, 2026-08-03, 2026-07-11.
This notice describes the cookies and similar technologies AltHarbor actually uses, what each one does, how long it lasts, and the choices available to you. AltHarbor does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or social-media trackers.
This inventory is maintained against the production configuration. If a technology is added or its purpose changes, this notice is updated before the change takes effect, with a new version and effective date.
Strictly necessary technologies
These are required for the site to function and operate without a consent prompt. Blocking them in your browser may prevent access.
- Site access cookie (`altharbor_site_access`) — set after you enter the site password during the closed beta. It stores a signed access token, not your identity. Duration: 30 days. Provider: AltHarbor (first party).
- Authentication and session storage — if you create an account or sign in, Supabase authentication cookies keep you signed in and protect your session. Duration: for the session and refresh window. Provider: Supabase (authentication infrastructure).
Preference technologies
- Theme cookie (`altharbor-theme`) — remembers your light/dark theme choice so pages render in your preferred appearance without a flash. Duration: 1 year. Provider: AltHarbor (first party). Deleting it simply resets the theme to the default.
Analytics and diagnostics
- Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights — page-view and performance measurement, loaded only in production. These tools are configured without third-party advertising cookies. They process technical information such as page paths, referrers, device class, and timing.
- Sentry error monitoring — captures diagnostic information when something breaks (error message, affected page, browser and device context). AltHarbor configures Sentry with default personal-information collection disabled and session replay off, and scrubs events before they are stored. Diagnostic data can still include technical context about your request.
AltHarbor does not describe this data as anonymous; it is technical and pseudonymous diagnostic data handled under the Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies will prevent password entry or sign-in from persisting.
- The theme cookie is optional; deleting it has no effect beyond resetting your theme.
- AltHarbor does not currently load advertising or cross-context tracking technologies, so there is no advertising opt-out to configure. If that ever changes, this notice and the available controls will change first.
